50 self care ideas to help you live your best life

  1. Drink water – it’s free, it’s nothing but good for you. Drinking 3 litres of water a day is easy and its benefits are ENDLESS. Replace your drinks with water for a good day.
  2. Cook food for yourself – even if you’re just throwing pasta in a pan, cook yourself something fresh and enjoy eating it.
  3. Breakfast – it’s important so make it count. What you eat for breakfast sets the tone for the rest of the day.
  4. Walk – if you’re stuck inside your own head, go outside and walk until you can’t walk anymore.
  5. Practice Yoga – learn your body, flex, breathe, stretch, feel at peace.
  6. Socialise in real life – set dates to see your friends instead of just watching their Insta stories.
  7. Read books – last thing at night, pick up a book and start reading. Expand your mind.
  8. Sleep – eight hours a night. Nothing should compromise this. Sleep comes first.
  9. Don’t compare yourself to others – comparison is the thief of joy.
  10. Eat less sugar – we don’t need processed sugar in our lives. Let go of it and feel free.
  11. Throw things away – do not keep anything you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful.
  12. Listen to your body – it’s trying to tell you things. Respect it.
  13. Learn something new – even if it’s just watching a YouTube video or reading a news article, fill your brain with knowledge.
  14. Live in the moment – don’t hope for the future, or dwell on the past. Be here, now. You’re alive and it’s a miracle.
  15. Don’t have a ‘to do’ list – my list is called ‘productivity’ and it’s a mixture of things I ideally need to do and things I want to do.
  16. Create a routine – spontaneity is not the be all and end all. Having night and morning routines can keep you together.
  17. Change your sheets – who doesn’t love fresh sheets?
  18. Clean your space – tidy home, tidy mind.
  19. Choose natural beauty products – what you put on the outside is just as important as what you put on the inside.
  20. Drink tea – it’s warm and delicious and good for you.
  21. Unfollow people – who make you feel like shit. Life is too short.
  22. Turn on Do Not Disturb – and learn to be completely with yourself. Those messages can wait.
  23. Open your windows – let the sun in, let the air in, let a little piece of outside in to cleanse your home.
  24. Scented candles – they smell great and create a nice atmosphere.
  25. Teach yourself to breathe again – it’s easy to forget sometimes.
  26. Write, draw, create – unleash your creativity on a daily basis. It deserves it.
  27. Speak to your family – they know you and they’re here for you, if they’re anything like my family.
  28. Start to write a journal – get those feelings out onto the paper and away from your soul.
  29. Realise you are fucking strong just for getting out of bed – some people don’t. You’re doing so well.
  30. Lay off caffeine – it’s anxiety in a cup.
  31. Take a warm shower or bath – let the water wash over you and just breathe.
  32. Wake up early and go to bed early – If you can, live in the hours of natural light.
  33. Accept yourself – you’re great.
  34. Don’t live someone else’s life – do what you need to do for you.
  35. Iron your clothes – you’ll feel ready to take on the world.
  36. Write some lists – lists, aspirations, what you’re thankful for.
  37. Smile at someone – chances are they will smile back and you’ll make their day.
  38. Only wear clothes you love – that make you feel like a goddess.
  39. Be gentle with yourself – you’re doing the best you can.
  40. Retail therapy – treat yourself to things that will improve your life. Fruit, candles, dark chocolate, notebooks.
  41. Put love out into the world – and it will come back to you.
  42. Help others – always be just a little kinder than necessary.
  43. Have plants in your house – they breathe with you. They’re life in your space.
  44. End toxic relationships – better to be alone than with people who drag you down.
  45. Stop worrying about things you can’t change – worrying only means you suffer twice.
  46. Learn to rest – it’s not giving up, it’s taking care of yourself.
  47. Be selfish – you can’t help others until you can help yourself.
  48. Do nothing for five minutes – grab a cup of tea, sit next to the window and take in the world.
  49. Communicate – speak your mind. Don’t bottle things up. Tell people how you feel about them.
